Anonymous, 10th century. Amulet (Lead, 56 mm, 24.06 g, 12 h), Womb ("Hystera") amulet. ΠANAΓIA ΘЄOTOKЄ BOIΘI CON TON ΦOPO (retrograde, 'Holy Mother of God, help your wearer') Womb symbol: facing head in center, from which eight serpents originate, all within a decorated border. Rev. ...TO MЄΓAΛO ONⲰMA... ('...the great name...') The Mother of God facing, both hands raised in prayer; all within decorated border. Cf. J.
